Advice, courses and implementation support
Strategic advice
The Danish Centre for Prevention of Extremism offers advice to municipalities, regions, educational institutions, housing organisations, associations, etc., focusing on issues such as:
- Signs of concern and potential courses of action in relation to young people who are already in extremist environments or are at risk of radicalisation
- Organisation and interdisciplinary cooperation on preventive initiatives
- Passing on knowledge, methods and tools
- Organising comprehensive prevention strategies
Courses and awareness training
This advice can be followed up by initiatives such as courses and awareness training designed to upgrade skills, often in partnership with the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) and the Regional Info-Houses in the area (the crime prevention authority partnership involving the police, municipalities, the Danish Prison and Probation Service and the health regions).
Special initiative for supporting municipal action plans
The Danish Centre for Prevention of Extremism works in partnership with Deloitte to offer special support to municipalities that wish to develop and implement action plans to prevent extremism.
Emergency response team
The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) and the Danish Centre for Prevention of Extremism work in partnership to offer advice to municipalities experiencing critical challenges involving recruitment and travel to armed conflict zones.
The objective is to implement effective coordinated efforts across disciplines when there are urgent concerns about recruitment to extremist environments or people wishing to travel to conflict zones.
This initiative complements the ongoing advisory service and enhancement effort being provided by the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) and the Danish Centre for Prevention of Extremism, often in partnership with the Regional Info-Houses with expertise on extremism and prevention.

Guidance for schools and local education authorities
The teaching consultants at the National Agency for Education and Quality offer head teachers, teachers, educators and local education authorities guidance on how schools can work systematically with topics such as democracy, civic citizenship and early prevention of radicalisation. A guidance hotline is one of a number of initiatives being implemented.
Find out more about the guidance hotline at the Ministry of Education (opens in a new window)
Individual cases
In individual cases, the municipalities have the opportunity to consult VISO, the National Organisation for Knowledge and Special Counselling on social services and special educational needs, which is part of the National Board of Social Services. VISO offers advice and assessment when supplementary expertise, knowledge and experience are required.
